A Will To Live: A Life-Changing Exercise

Think about and visualize this scenario: You find out you only have 9-12 months to live due to an incurable illness. In detail, describe how you’d want to live. Most tend to believe they want a life of luxury full of material possessions, travel & adventure. Seriously question this. Is it really important and what you’d want to focus on during the last few months of your life? Perhaps if your life was already pretty good in all other areas, it may interest you. For most, there are better alternatives. Truly contemplate in detail what would honestly make you happy and fulfilled. Be realistic about what you can make happen. What makes you feel like you’re madly, deeply in love with yourself and life? Spend time deciding on a plan. What would you let go of? What would you change? In your current relationships, if they’re not good, what can you do to change that? What do you think their reaction would be if they knew you were dying? Would either of you waste this time in conflict? If there are people that only bring negativity into your life, would you waste a second even talking to them during your brief time alive? If you want different relationships, what can you do differently to try to meet those people? What about your work? Are you happy and fulfilled with your job? Or do you work just for the income or because you feel you have to in order to be successful or please others? What would you do if none of that were an issue? What are you passionate about and would do for free just because you love it so much? What are your dreams for yourself and the ideal life you’d live? If you already are doing your ideal work, but aren’t satisfied with your work conditions, employer or employees, co-workers, clients, customers, schedule, etc., what would you change? What about who you are as a person-your personality, habits, how you speak, how you treat others, etc.-what works and doesn’t work? What would you improve upon? Think of people you consider ideal, and what specifically about them you’d like to emulate. Be creative when answering all of these questions. Spend as many hours or days as you need to seriously contemplate what you would do if you only had a brief time to live. Write it all down. Then start to think about how you can incorporate all you envisioned to create your ideal life starting now, despite the fact that you’ll likely have years to live. Live so excited by life that death isn’t even a factor. You’ll just enjoy each moment, each day fully.

Alternative Exercise: Think about what you would do if there were no obstacles in your way, if you had plenty of resources such as money. Aside for the typical material desires, go through the questions above to design your ideal life.

Give Your Life a Major Overhaul!

If you’re unhappy or dissatisfied with your life, you can create a plan to improve it.

  • List all of the things in your life you want to change. Write a detailed description of your ideal life. List ideas for how to obtain these things.
  • Create An Incentive: An incentive is the purpose of your life and the key to your plan working. What is it that will give you the motivation to do what’s necessary to achieve what you want?
  • Breakdown your goals into steps.

  • Make what you want more important than what you don’t. Find something you are so passionate about that you will obtain by sticking with this goal, that it motivates you daily.
  • Affirmations-mentally & visually
  • Surround yourself with everything you need to assist you.
  • Have backup plans.
  • Have a support system or a way to connect with others if you don’t.

SuperConscious Techniques

SuperConscious combines your conscious & subconscious (unconscious) powers to achieve the ultimate life. The key is for them to work together harmoniously, allowing you to accomplish anything.

Affirmation/PowerWords:

Choose the areas of your life you want to focus on right now. Create a positive statement describing exactly what you want to occur. Use words that resonate with you. Always focus on what you want rather than what you don’t. If you have religious beliefs, they can be incorporated into your affirmations as a form of prayer. Later you can use PowerWords™, shortening affirmations into key words or phrases. State these affirmations with conviction, as if it’s already happened while truly believing it will.

Dream Scenario/Joy-Stream Pages:

Visualize clearly the scenario in which your goal occurs as if it’s come true. Picture what will happen, how you’ll feel, what will be said by others, etc. Since most of the time the affirmation is about you, be sure to picture yourself clearly and how you want to appear. If you are sick now or have other physical flaws you don’t want, don’t put that into the scenario. Show yourself as happy, healthy and enjoying life. While visualizing, it’s important to feel the positive emotions of happiness & contentment you will experience. You also must believe that it will happen in order for it to work. Act as if, state as if, visualize and feel as if until it occurs. Each time you visualize, you may either stick to the same scenario or change it to show it working in different aspects of your life. As a tool, you may want to use Joy-Stream Pages™- journaling your ideal scenario to help you visualize &amp feel it. You can write it out or use PowerWords™ in a descriptive stream of consciousness.

Movement Meditation:

Movement Meditation is using your body in a powerful spiritual technique combining visualization, feeling the emotions & exercise. Yoga/stretching, walking, dancing, aerobics, anything can be used as a meditation. Until you become more experienced, you may find slower movements such as yoga to be most effective. Walking meditation, especially in nature, is also highly effective. Learn to move your body according to what feels right for you rather than according to rules or structure. Many will find they will start to enjoy exercise more than ever rather than forcing themselves to. Remember to properly breathe and also periodically use deep breathes. Often once you’re in a state of peace & joy, you can just focus on that feeling.

Counteract Negativity:

If you’re having difficulty, it may be important to spend more time connecting spiritually & using several methods. Ideally a few hours per day would be most effective. If that much time isn’t available, do what you can daily & try to devote a half or whole day or weekend whenever possible. Constantly repeat affirmations to yourself throughout the day while doing various tasks to assure that your thoughts are on a positive path. Nothing is more powerful than good powerful thoughts & feelings. Learn to turn all negative into positive. Never finish a negative statement; reverse it immediately. Refuse to listen to all negative fears & suggestions within you & from other sources, as they can actually create negative situations. Worry & stress is pointless. No negative thought can ever manifest itself unless you let it & accept it mentally. Instead send & feel love. When speaking, use only positive statements. Always expect the best. The way you think, feel & believe determines your destiny.

Autosuggestions:

Autosuggestions are affirmations used while in a sleep state, first thing in the morning & last thing at night & sometimes during meditation. Prior to sleep is the most powerful time to reprogram your subconscious. When you’re in a partially drowsy state, your mind is more receptive to suggestion. Repeat affirmations in your mind until asleep. Sleep in peace, awake in joy.

Participate In Your Healing Sessions

Regardless of how effective a healer or technique is supposed to be, never rely solely on the practitioner. By always participating you will assist and enhance any type of healing. You can incorporate various practices (prayer, meditation, affirmations, visualization) and start using them immediately upon setting the appointment through the session & afterwards. Find out what else you can do through research and speaking with the practitioner such as: diet, supplements, changing or eliminating habits, using other techniques known to help, stopping medications safely & asking other professionals to be involved whenever necessary. You should be receptive to healing with a positive attitude & having a strong belief in the process. You can also have family and friends send prayers & positive energy.
